This part will be about Bon Jovi, my altime favorite band. I started loving Bon Jovi when I fell in love with Jon when he say Thank You For Loving Me. I was 8 back then :)
History of Bon Jovi
Bon Jovi is an American rock band from Sayreville, New Yersey. Formed in 1983.
Bon Jovi started out with 5 member; leadsinger Jon Bon Jovi, Richie Sambora plays guitar, David Bryan plays keyboard, Ticco Torres plays drums and Alec John Such played bass, Alec left the band in 1994.
Jon Bon Jovi started out on his own playing the song he wrote 'Runaway'. He recorded this song and other demos in his cousin's, Tony Bongiovi, recording studio and send the demos to record companies but had no impact.
He finally went to a radio station where he asked if they would play his song. The song became popular and Jon needed a band and more important a record label. He finally signed with Mercury with his band members.
Their first CD named 'Bon Jovi' released in 1984. The CD went platinum in the United States.
Their second CD named '7800°Farenheit' was released in 1985. This CD didn't reach as high as the previous.
'Slippery When Wet' was released in 1986. This CD got to number one in 7 countries. By 1995 the CD got to 12 times platinum. This CD has the Bon Jovi songs everyone knows: 'You Give Love a Bad Name', 'Wanted Dead or Alive' and 'Living on a Prayer'
After their previous big succes they released 'New Jersey' in 1988. This CD got to number one in 11 countries. And went 7 times platinum by 1996. After this promotional tour all the band member went home without any plans for the future.
In 1990 Jon released his first solo album named 'Blaze of Glory', he also wrote a song for the movie 'Young Guns II'
In 1991 Richie also released his first solo album named 'Stranger in This Town' which was a rock/blues CD.
At the end 1991 the band came together to talked about the future and released their next CD in 1992 encouraging name 'Keep The Faith'. Beginning a new chapter of Bon Jovi. This CD only got to the 5th place in the United States.
In 1994 they released their first best of album named 'Cross Road' the CD went 10 times platinum in Canada but also multiple times in other countries.
Their sixth studio album was named 'These Days' which also went platinum multiple times around the world. During their concerts in Londen they announced they kicked Michael Jackson off the number on spot.
After the big succes of 'These Days' Bon Jovi decided to take another break. Jon released another solo album named 'Destination Anywhere' again Richie also released a solo album named 'Undiscouvered Soul'. Ticco took the opportunity to paint and David started writing musicals.
They reunited in 1999 to record the song 'Real Live' for the movie EdTV.
In 2000 the CD 'Crush' was released. The song 'It's My Life' hit number one places around the world and again the CD went platinum multiple times.
A year later, in 2001 they released a live CD named 'One Wild Night 1985-2001'. With live covers of 'Rockin' in the Free World' and 'I Don't Like Mondays'.
Another year later, in 2002 they released the CD 'Bounce'. The CD sold over 160 000 copies in the United States during the first week.
In 2003 Bon Jovi released their most famous songs in a different version, acoustic.
In 2004 they released a box set with never before heard material named '100,000,000 Bon Jovi Fans Can't Be Wrong'. The title was a homage to Elvis' '50,000,000 Elvis Fans Can't Be Wrong'.
Their next studio album came out in 2005 named 'Have a Nice Day'. It went to the number one spot in 12 different countries. The song 'Who Says You Can't Go Home' was the first rock song to get the number one spot on the country charts.
'Lost Highway' came out two years later. Described by Jon Bon Jovi as a "Bon Jovi album influenced by Nashville". As usual when a CD has been released Bon Jovi went on a tour and passed by Brussels, June 14th in 2008 where I saw Bon Jovi for the first time.
In the summer of 2009 Richie Sambora and Jon Bon Jovi was inducted in the 'Songwriters Hall of Fame'. In november they released their newest CD 'The Circle'. On January 31st 2010 they performed on the 52nd Grammy Awards for the first time. They also were nominated for Grammy for Best Pop Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals for "We Weren't Born To Follow."
On June 13th 2010 David Bryan who worked on the musical 'Memphis' won the Tony Award for best original score and for best musical.
